GOD’S CALL WAS HEARD WHEN…Dustin Bertrand, through steps that were guided by the hand of God, repeatedly found himself among Christians of other denominations while practicing his Catholic faith. In the quest of growing God Made Self Driven, he answered the call to bring others together under the essential promise of salvation through Jesus Christ. He desires to create a space where the environment fosters love so Truth can be what reigns!
As this desire began to take shape, he started to connect with pastors and musicians from other churches that shared the same heart. He even had, what Dustin would consider, an inner locution or deep imaginative thought where he saw the Cajundome of Lafayette, La filled intentionally for unification and healing of the body of Christ.
As things progressed, an affirmation arose that further solidified that this prompting was from God. By the power of Holy Spirit ordering his steps, he met the founder of a local non-denominational church called Family Life. Mrs. Babs Martin co-founded Family Life church in the Acadiana area with her husband Pastor Francis Martin.
Ironically Brother Francis befriended a Catholic Priest, Monsignor Robert Angelle on a flight to a “Promise Keepers” pastoral event that was sweeping the Nation at that time. This friendship lead to one of the biggest Ecumenical events of our Acadiana area, where the two of them spearheaded a gathering in the Heymann Center, centered around the Biblical verse Psalm 133, hosting over 2200 people of faith.
This happened some 30+ years ago and God truly had to be with them in that endeavor due to the failure of unification between Protestants and Catholics at that time. As Mrs. Babs gave Dustin this history lesson, she paused in tears to say….”My husband was disheartened because he couldn’t continue the movement of unity amongst the believers…but I’ll never forget the day he looked at me and said….It’s okay because God’s raising up someone else to pick it back up after me!”
Mrs. Babs and Dustin sat eye to eye in tears after that statement both feeling a wave of emotions. Mrs. Babs had recently lost brother Fances in a battle with his health January 2019 and Dustin was understanding the responsibility of this call to see it through.
God is doing a mighty work behind the scenes, so we would like to invite you into an opportunity to help us make this “Love United” event possible! Our goal is to provide a free event on September 28th 2019, with international speakers and musicians! See tab below:
